Example text

This pressure difference ensures the slot is filled before the paste flows into the die land, so that uniform layer thickness can be achieved. Finally, the load required for co-extrusion should not exceed the limit of the load frame and mechanical design of the barrel-die assembly. Apart from the first criterion it is pressure drop which is critical. By changing the design of the die assembly all the criteria could be satisfied. The pressure drops were calculated before construction and later verified by experiment.

Some non-catastrophic damage observed after firing tests was thought to be caused by thermal shock and thermal cycles. Therefore, a thermal shock test was performed using water quenching to study and evaluate hot firing damage. Residual strength and ILSS properties were used to determine the effects of the damage. EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE Manufacturing of Chamber Figure 1 shows manufacturing processes of SiC/SiC chamber. Tyranno LoxM fiber produced by Ube Industries was chosen for this chamber. The fiber was braided on a mandrel and infiltrated with Sic matrix.

Dies 2 and 3 have the similar structures to Die 1 but with reducing number of transition holes. An extrudate existing the stack of Dies 1, 2 Location and 3 would comprise three hole 1 tubes of materials with air gaps hole 2 between each layer. A final Section A conical die (Die 4) compresses the layers together around Pin 1 Figure 3. Illustration graph of Die 1. to give a trilayer tube (Figure 2). Having developed the flow streams for the co-extruder, several criteria were applied to fix the dimensions of the components.
